From September 8 to 9, 2025, Zermatt will host the world’s top riders for the UCI 2025 Mountain Bike Cross-Country Short Track World Championships.

The races will take place on a challenging course at the foot of the Matterhorn, where athletes will compete for the prestigious title of World Champion in Cross-Country Short Track. An intense competition set against a breathtaking alpine backdrop.

CROSS-COUNTRY SHORT TRACK (XCC).

Since 2018, the UCI has introduced the XCC ("Short Track") format in Cross-Country World Cup stages. This fast-paced race covers 7 laps of 1.2 km, lasting about 20 minutes. With minimal technical challenges, it demands high physical effort and strategic planning. Suspense, varying tactics, and the crowd’s energy make this format thrilling and crucial for the rest of the competition.

Behind the ride.

We are delighted to be hosting this special event. The whole of Valais will be the focus of the mountain bike world for two weeks. We must make the best possible use of the effects and synergies of the event for the sustainable development of mountain biking.

Cornelius Schreck, Co-President Cross-Country Short Track Zermatt

I am very excited that Zermatt will soon once again host professional MTB races – and not just any, but the World Championship. This event represents a significant milestone for the region and the sport. It is a great honor for me to be part of the team that will bring the athletes and the iconic Matterhorn together onto an international stage, showcasing the unique beauty and challenges of this incredible location.

Christian Ziörjen, Event specialist & local biker

The Bike World Championships are a huge opportunity for the whole region to show that you can also enjoy a variety of experiences in summer. Zermatt is not only a paradise for sporty people, also for gourmets. The combination of breathtaking mountain scenery, top sporting performance and first-class gastronomy makes the Cross-Country Short Track an unforgettable experience.
