Who is the UCI?

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is the world governing body for cycling.

What does the rainbow represent?

The rainbow jersey was first awarded in 1927, the year of the first 1927 UCI Road World Championships for professional riders. The design has remained much the same ever since. It is predominantly white with five horizontal stripes representing the UCI colours around the chest. The colours of the stripes (blue, red, black, yellow, and green) represent the five continents and are the same as those which appear in the rings on the Olympic flag.

Volunteering.

Why become a volunteer?

This is your chance to be part of the action during the Mountain Bike World Championships. It's the first time so many disciplines will be hosted in the same region, making it a golden opportunity for those interested in multiple disciplines. Volunteering is also a great way to meet amazing people with a shared goal and learn new skills along the way.

Am I covered by insurance in case of an accident while volunteering?

Yes, all volunteers will be insured for accidents during their shifts.

Are travel expenses covered for volunteers?

Yes, public transport costs are included. Volunteers can enjoy free travel from anywhere in Switzerland to the competition sites.

Can I volunteer at multiple locations?

While we prioritize volunteers who can help across multiple days and locations, it’s also possible to volunteer for just a few days at a single destination. Volunteers who contribute more days will have access to exclusive additional benefits.

Do I need to come to Valais for administrative steps before my volunteer day?

No, but you must arrive early on your assigned day to collect your uniform, lunch, and attend the pre-shift briefing. Some missions start as early as 6 a.m.

When and where will the 2025 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships take place?

The event will take place from Saturday, 30 August to Sunday, 14 September 2025, across various venues in Valais, Switzerland.

How many venues are hosting the 2025 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Valais?

The event will take place across 8 venues: Sion, Crans-Montana, Champéry, Zermatt, Aletsch Arena/Bellwald, Monthey, Verbier, and Val d'Anniviers.

Is there a detailed race programme available?

Yes, the race programme is available on the schedule page on our website.

How many riders are participating in the 2025 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Valais?

Exact numbers are yet to be confirmed, but the event is expected to feature over 1,500 athletes and accompanying persons from around the world.

How many spectators are expected?

The event is expected to attract approximately 150,000 spectators over the 14 days.

Will there also be public races?

Yes! Public races such as the Ride to the Champs, Open Enduro and Grand Raid BCVS will allow fans to participate. More details will come closer to the event.

Are there opening or closing ceremonies?

The opening ceremony will take place in Sion on Sunday, August 31, while details about the closing ceremony will be announced closer to the event.

Volunteering is also a great way to meet amazing people with a shared goal and learn new skills along the way.

What are the requirements to be a volunteer?

If you’re over 16 years old, motivated, and available during the event dates, we’d love to welcome you to the Valais 2025 volunteer team. For some roles, specific skills might be required, such as good physical fitness for track-side positions in Champéry or Aletsch.

Where can I sign up to become a volunteer?

Can I volunteer at multiple locations?

While we prioritize volunteers who can help across multiple days and locations, it’s also possible to volunteer for just a few days at a single destination. Volunteers who contribute more days will have access to exclusive additional benefits.

Is accommodation provided for volunteers?

Unfortunately, we cannot provide accommodation for the 1,000+ volunteers participating in the event. We recommend securing lodging early to stay close to the competition sites. Please note that some shifts start early in the morning (around 6 a.m.), when public transport may not yet be available.

Are travel expenses covered for volunteers?

Yes, public transport costs are included. Volunteers can enjoy free travel from anywhere in Switzerland to the competition sites.

Will meals be provided for volunteers during their shifts?

Yes, all volunteers will receive drinks and lunch packs during their shifts.

I don’t live in Switzerland but want to volunteer. Is that possible?

Yes, we accept applications from everyone, though most volunteers are expected to be from Switzerland. Please note we do not cover visa costs, and you must ensure your accident insurance complies with Swiss regulations.

I don’t have an email address. Can I still sign up?

Unfortunately, all volunteers need an email address to receive essential information and training before the event.

Will volunteers receive special event uniforms?

Yes, every volunteer will receive an official event uniform, which will be showcased on our website.

Am I covered by insurance in case of an accident while volunteering?

Yes, all volunteers will be insured for accidents during their shifts.

I want to sign up for a role but don’t know what to do. Will there be training?

Yes, training will be provided both online and on-site. Please check the EHRO volunteer platform closer to the event for more details.

How many days do I need to be available to volunteer?

The minimum number of days depends on the role. For competition-related roles, a minimum of three days is required. For other roles, a single day may be sufficient.

I signed up for a date but my plans changed. What should I do?

You can update your availability on the EHRO platform at any time. However, note that some roles may no longer be available if you change your dates.

What happens after I register?

Once your registration is confirmed, you’ll receive emails with next steps, including training details, volunteer events, and other important updates.

Will I get free tickets to the competitions?

Volunteers do not receive extra tickets. However, your volunteer badge will grant access to paid areas during your shift.

Travel and transport.

What is the best way to get to the 2025 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Valais?

We recommend using public transport. Detailed travel information for each venue, including public transport, is available on the Access the Championships page.

Can I access the Championships by public transport?

Public transport is the best way to get to the World Championships. Visit our Access the Championships page to find out how to get to Valais and the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships competition venues.

Where are the designated parking areas for each venue?

Parking areas will be reduced in the area close to the sites. Parking areas will be specify later for each venue on the dedicated page of the destination.

Do I need to reserve parking in advance?

Parking reservations won't be available, so we recommend using public transport to avoid the risk of not finding a parking space.

Are the venues easily accessible for international visitors?

Yes, Valais is well-connected by train, car, and air. The nearest airports are Geneva Airport and Zurich Airport. Train connections to Valais are available from both.

Can I cycle to the venue?

Yes, cycling is encouraged, and bike parking will be available at all venues.

Will there be traffic restrictions or road closures near the event?

Details of road closures will be communicated in advance to ensure smooth travel.

What are the nearest airports to the event locations?

The nearest airports are Geneva Airport and Zurich Airport. Train connections to Valais are available from both.

Ticketing.

For which competitions do I need a ticket?

Most of the competition venues are open access. The sites for which you need a ticket are Champéry and Crans-Montana, on the Saturday and Sunday finals days. You can also purchase VIP tickets for certain additional destinations.

What's included in my ticket?

Your ticket includes entry and access to the event as well as the ski lifts and shuttle bus from Monthey for the Downhill events in Champéry. As for Crans-Montana, you'll be able to take advantage of the shuttle buses and free transport within the resort.

What are Early-Bird tickets?

Early-Bird tickets represent a contingent of tickets sold several months before the event at a preferential and advantageous rate. The sale of Early-Bird tickets will end on 30 June 2025 at 23:59.

Will it be possible to buy tickets on site on the day of the event?

It will be possible to buy tickets on site on the day of the event, subject to availability. We strongly advise you to buy your tickets in advance to facilitate your arrival, but also to be able to take advantage of the mobility benefits.

Do kids have to pay for tickets?

Free access for kids under the age of 16. An entry wristband is available (and mandatory) at the ticketing office at the site.

What methods of payment are accepted?

The following payment methods are accepted: Credit cards / Postfinance / TWINT

Where can I find my ticket after purchase?

Once you have made your purchase and paid, you will immediately receive your ticket in PDF format. You can also add it to your smartphone as a digital ticket using the QR-Code on the right. You will also receive a confirmation e-mail with a summary of your purchase and your tickets attached.

How can I get to the competition venues?

We have created a guide to help you get to our competition venues in the best possible way via the following link. For our part, we encourage you to use public transport as much as possible.

I'm looking for accommodation close to the competition venues. Where can I find information?

I would like a refund for my ticket. Is this possible?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to request a refund for your ticket.

What are the conditions in the event of cancellation of the event?

Please refer to our General Terms and Conditions of Sale for details of what to expect in the event of cancellation.

I would like to resell my ticket. Is this possible?

As stipulated in our General Terms and Conditions of Sale, it is not possible to resell a ticket purchased via our platform.

Are the tickets personal?

No, tickets are not personal.

Is the event accessible to people with reduced mobility?

Yes, the events are of course accessible to people with reduced mobility. For more information, please contact tickets@valais2025.

All updates about the event will be available on our website as well as on our Facebook and Instagram accounts. In addition, further communications with some practical information will follow in the coming months.

All cycling clubs recognised by Swiss Cycling can benefit from a 15% discount on standard tickets (adults and children) for the following days:

No, there are no official hotel partners for the event. However, accommodation can be booked through valais.ch and other local booking platforms.

Will there be food and beverage options available at the venues?

Yes, all venues will feature food stalls and beverage options, including local and international cuisines.

Are pets allowed at the event venues?

Can I bring a drone to film the event?

No, drones are not permitted at the event venues for safety and privacy reasons.

What items are prohibited at the event venues?

Will there be bag checks at the entrances?

Yes, bag checks will be conducted at all venue entrances for safety purposes.

Can I leave the venue and return later on the same day?

Yes, re-entry is allowed as long as you retain your ticket or wristband for verification.

Will there be first-aid or medical services available on-site?

Yes, first-aid stations will be available at all venues, and emergency response teams will be on standby.

What safety precautions are in place for spectators?

Safety measures will include security checks, medical services, and designated safe zones for emergencies.

In case of bad weather, can the event be canceled?

Event cancellations due to bad weather will be communicated in advance on the official Valais 2025 website and through our social media channels. Stay updated for any changes.

Where are the best spots to watch the races?

Designated viewing areas will be marked at each venue to provide the best race experience for spectators.

Are there big screens showing the race at each venue?

Yes, big screens will be set up at select venues to broadcast the race action live.

What are the amenities available at the fan zones?

Fan zones will include food stalls, merchandise shops, shaded rest areas, and activities for kids.

Are there dedicated cheer zones for fans to support riders?

Yes, cheer zones will be set up at key points along the race routes.

Can I bring my own chairs or blankets to the viewing areas?

Yes, spectators are welcome to bring portable chairs or blankets for comfort.

Are there activities for families and kids?

Yes, family-friendly activities will be available at the fan zones, including games, entertainment, and interactive experiences for children.

Live broadcasts and media.

Will the event be broadcast live on TV ?

Yes, the event will be broadcast live on major sports channels and streamed online. The Elite Men�s and Women�s finals in Cross-Country Olympic, Cross-Country Short Track and Downhill will be aired live on SRF, RTS, and RSI. For international broadcasting details, we will add the lists of channels for each country closer to the event.

Will the event be broadcast live on streaming platforms?

Will replays of the races be available after the event?

Yes, race replays will be accessible on the official website and streaming platforms.

Can I record the event on my personal devices?

Yes, but recording must comply with event policies and cannot interfere with other spectators.

Are there designated photo areas for spectators?

Yes, designated photo zones will be available for fans to capture memorable moments.

How can I apply for media accreditation?

Merchandising.

Will official merchandise for the 2025 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Valais be available?

Yes, official merchandise will be available both online and at the venues.

Where can I buy official event t-shirts, caps, or accessories?

Merchandise will be sold at the Expo Villagees and on the official event website.

Are there limited-edition or commemorative items for the event?

Yes, limited-edition merchandise will be released, including special commemorative items.

Who is selling and responsible for the warranty? 

Online sale are done via Santini webshop. Please check sales conditions directly on santini.com  

What methods of payment are accepted at the merchandise stalls?

Cash, credit cards, and mobile payments will be accepted at all merchandise points.

Sustainability and environmental impact.

How is Valais 2025 reducing its carbon footprint ?

The event minimises CO? emissions through renewable energy use, low-emission logistics, encouraging participants and spectators to use soft mobility options (public transports, car sharing, bicycles etc.) and by avoiding any unecessary waste, elimating single-use plastuc for example.

Will there be efforts to minimise waste during the event?

Yes, a "zero waste" approach is being pursued. This includes reusable tableware, water refill stations, and clearly marked recycling and composting points.

Are local products and suppliers being promoted ?

Absolutely. The event prioritises local food and beverage providers, regional suppliers, and encourages short supply chains to boost the local economy and reduce transport emissions.

How are volunteers and staff involved in sustainability efforts?

Dedicated sustainability volunteers will be on hand to support sustainability initiatives. In addition, all staff and volunteers will undergo training in responsible practices to ensure consistent sustainability efforts across all event venues. As part of their role, they will also participate in a CleanUp Day at each competition site following the event.

Will sustainability progress be reported publicly?

Yes, a sustainability report will be published after the event, outlining achievements, challenges, and lessons learned as part of a legacy for future sporting events.
