The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is the world governing body for cycling.
The rainbow jersey was first awarded in 1927, the year of the first 1927 UCI Road World Championships for professional riders. The design has remained much the same ever since. It is predominantly white with five horizontal stripes representing the UCI colours around the chest. The colours of the stripes (blue, red, black, yellow, and green) represent the five continents and are the same as those which appear in the rings on the Olympic flag.
The official name is the 2025 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Valais.
The event will take place from Saturday, 30 August to Sunday, 14 September 2025, across various venues in Valais, Switzerland.
The Mountain Bike World Championships will include:

The event will take place across 8 venues: Sion, Crans-Montana, Champéry, Zermatt, Aletsch Arena/Bellwald, Monthey, Verbier, and Val d'Anniviers.

The event is expected to attract approximately 150,000 spectators over the 14 days.
Yes! Public races such as the Ride to the Champs, Open Enduro and Grand Raid BCVS will allow fans to participate. More details will come closer to the event.
The opening ceremony will take place in Sion on Sunday, August 31, while details about the closing ceremony will be announced closer to the event.

If you’re over 16 years old, motivated, and available during the event dates, we’d love to welcome you to the Valais 2025 volunteer team. For some roles, specific skills might be required, such as good physical fitness for track-side positions in Champéry or Aletsch.

While we prioritize volunteers who can help across multiple days and locations, it’s also possible to volunteer for just a few days at a single destination. Volunteers who contribute more days will have access to exclusive additional benefits.
Unfortunately, we cannot provide accommodation for the 1,000+ volunteers participating in the event. We recommend securing lodging early to stay close to the competition sites. Please note that some shifts start early in the morning (around 6 a.m.), when public transport may not yet be available.
Yes, public transport costs are included. Volunteers can enjoy free travel from anywhere in Switzerland to the competition sites.
Yes, all volunteers will receive drinks and lunch packs during their shifts.
Yes, we accept applications from everyone, though most volunteers are expected to be from Switzerland. Please note we do not cover visa costs, and you must ensure your accident insurance complies with Swiss regulations.
Unfortunately, all volunteers need an email address to receive essential information and training before the event.
Yes, every volunteer will receive an official event uniform, which will be showcased on our website.
Yes, all volunteers will be insured for accidents during their shifts.
Yes, training will be provided both online and on-site. Please check the EHRO volunteer platform closer to the event for more details.
The minimum number of days depends on the role. For competition-related roles, a minimum of three days is required. For other roles, a single day may be sufficient.
You can update your availability on the EHRO platform at any time. However, note that some roles may no longer be available if you change your dates.
Once your registration is confirmed, you’ll receive emails with next steps, including training details, volunteer events, and other important updates.
Volunteers do not receive extra tickets. However, your volunteer badge will grant access to paid areas during your shift.
No, but you must arrive early on your assigned day to collect your uniform, lunch, and attend the pre-shift briefing. Some missions start as early as 6 a.m.

Parking areas will be reduced in the area close to the sites. Parking areas will be specify later for each venue on the dedicated page of the destination.
Parking reservations won't be available, so we recommend using public transport to avoid the risk of not finding a parking space.
Yes, Valais is well-connected by train, car, and air. The nearest airports are Geneva Airport and Zurich Airport. Train connections to Valais are available from both.

Most of the competition venues are open access. The sites for which you need a ticket are Champéry and Crans-Montana, on the Saturday and Sunday finals days. You can also purchase VIP tickets for certain additional destinations.
Your ticket includes entry and access to the event as well as the ski lifts and shuttle bus from Monthey for the Downhill events in Champéry. As for Crans-Montana, you'll be able to take advantage of the shuttle buses and free transport within the resort.
Early-Bird tickets represent a contingent of tickets sold several months before the event at a preferential and advantageous rate. The sale of Early-Bird tickets will end on 30 June 2025 at 23:59.
It will be possible to buy tickets on site on the day of the event, subject to availability. We strongly advise you to buy your tickets in advance to facilitate your arrival, but also to be able to take advantage of the mobility benefits.
Free access for kids under the age of 16. An entry wristband is available (and mandatory) at the ticketing office at the site.

Once you have made your purchase and paid, you will immediately receive your ticket in PDF format. You can also add it to your smartphone as a digital ticket using the QR-Code on the right. You will also receive a confirmation e-mail with a summary of your purchase and your tickets attached.
