Developed in collaboration with the sustainability agency bloomUp, the event’s strategy aligns with the 2030 Agenda of the Canton of Valais. Respect and preservation: Valais 2025 at the heart of the Valais ecosystem.

The competitions take place on existing trails, benefiting from Valais' excellent network of paths for the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships. The protection of wildlife and flora is ensured in collaboration with the Canton of Valais, which grants the necessary permits while safeguarding sensitive areas. To minimise waste impact, daily site cleanups are carried out by our volunteers, along with a Clean-Up initiative in partnership with the Summit Foundation, ensuring the preservation of natural spaces.

Accessibility.

We are placing accessibility at the heart of Valais 2025 to ensure an inclusive experience for everyone, even in mountain areas. Specific arrangements provide easier access to the start and finish zones of the eight competition sites, complemented by a mobility plan designed for people with reduced mobility (PRM). This project benefits from the expertise of our accessibility consultants, Lorraine Truong and Quentin Mathieu.

Promoting local products.

Our event showcases local stakeholders in Valais and their know-how, prioritising short supply chains for an authentic immersion in the regional identity. We also involve local cycling associations and clubs in our organising committees, fostering their participation in the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships. By promoting regional products, we support the local economy and contribute to showcasing Valais' rich culture.

Circularity of Materials.

Every event leaves a footprint, but it is crucial to ensure it does not affect biodiversity or the environment. Over 14 days and across 8 sites, we embrace a circular economy approach: optimising resources, reducing waste, and aiming to recycle over 50% of generated materials. Additionally, 30% of our equipment will be reused, reinforcing our commitment to responsible sustainability.

Soft mobility and public transport.

The Valais has an efficient public transport network. To minimize the carbon footprint, we encourage visitors and athletes to use public transport or bicycles to reach the competition sites. Combined tickets, cycling routes and free transport for volunteers are also available to promote environmentally friendly mobility.

How to get to Valais 2025

Renewable electricity and optimised consumption.

We rely exclusively on renewable energy, primarily hydroelectric and locally produced in Valais. By optimising electricity consumption with energy-efficient equipment, such as next-generation LED screens, and promoting eco-friendly practices among our exhibitors and volunteers, we aim to minimise our energy footprint.
